Jerry Ulesmann
Jerry N.Uelsmann is an American photographer who was born on June 11,1934. He was also the forerunner of photomontage in the 20th century in America. Why I choose him as my inspiration for this filming (cult, noir) because onhis interpretation on his ideas combining with his photograped picture. For example, his pictures are not meant to describe a place but rether to allow the viewer to go beyond the frames to take them to a journey trough the bottomless ( something which is not easy to understand/interpret). Trough the reffering of sceneery to his representation of subject matter, this becomes possible. Like the Pictorialist movement in the 20th century, JErry played a big idea on his work, and because those ideas are so vague (not define/clear) , he did not allow room for literal interpretation of his work, but rather left his undertsanding to the emotion; based on inner experience rather on fact.
Why did critiques start loving his work ? because of the uniqueness of his technique and composition though the initial reception of image was less than accepting. His photograph were seen as documentation which were concentrate on during the mid 20th cent. Thank god for Jerry, the MoMA is renowned for showing the avant-garde, taking pride in helping to define modern art. Jerry also composes his work in black and white with a very wide range complements of grey and mid-tones troughout . In his work, he uses more than one focal point and as well contrast the natural with the artificial . Placing eyes on walls, windows on trees, and shrubbery on the artificial are common elements within his work.Below are the example of his photograph :-

Thi video was very usefull to us. do watch it ....
After looking trough the pictures and video, what do you think noir photography is all about ? Simple, since it's going to be colourless (black and white), we got to express our feelings and emotion trough our body gesture as well face. This could potray the scene of the movie.
The way they they look at during noir photography is the angle, withing the box, face expression, body gesture, clothings and material used. It must not be to cliche.
